Subject: HP-UX, dvips 5.55a, tcsh 6.04, and the -P option
dvips -P<printer> <filename> works fine on all our non-HP machines,
regardless of the user's login shell.
However, on the HP's, if your login shell is tcsh 6.04, then the command
fails with a broken pipe:
draco ~/uploads> dvips -Patlw314 notes.dvi
This is dvipsk 5.55a Copyright 1986, 1994 Radical Eye Software
' TeX output 1994.09.08:1524' -> |lp -datlw314
<texc.pro>. Broken pipe
Note that is works if you make the pipe by hand:
draco ~/uploads> dvips -f notes.dvi | lp -datlw314
This is dvipsk 5.55a Copyright 1986, 1994 Radical Eye Software
' TeX output 1994.09.08:1524' ->
<texc.pro>. [1] [2] [3]
request id is atlw314-0 (standard input)
Under /bin/csh this all works fine. uname -a says:
HP-UX draco A.09.03 A 9000/735 2011649830 two-user license
Has anyone seen this behavior? Where is the bug? Any suggestions?
